TPS6594-Q1: Output compatibility to TPS22995H-Q1

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS22995H-Q1, TDA4VM, TPS22965-Q1

Hello TI,

Can you approve that one TPS6594-Q1 output GPO9 or GPO11 is capable to drive one TPS22995H-Q1 ON Pin (point-to-point connection with no additional leakage current)?

Background:

I am designing a circuit using the TPS6594-Q1 together with the TDA4VM, following SLVUC99A (PDN0-C).

This PDN recommends two TPS22965-Q1 Load Switches for supply of the 3.3 V I/O domains.

As dissimilarity aspects prevent the usage of TPS22965-Q1 in this application, TI suggests to use TPS22995H-Q1 as replacement.

The ON signals of the two load switches are driven by TPS6594-Q1 GPIO9 respectively GPIO11.

TPS6594-Q1 specifies 0.4V as the maximum low level output voltage at 3mA load current, there is no value given for lower current values.
TPS22995H-Q1 requires 0.35V as maximum low level input voltage at the ON pin.

Kind Regards, Peter

  • Hello Peter,

please allow some time to respond to this post, thank you.

  • Hello Peter,

    Following up

The ON signals of the two load switches are driven by TPS6594-Q1 GPIO9 respectively GPIO11.

TPS6594-Q1 specifies 0.4V as the maximum low level output voltage at 3mA load current, there is no value given for lower current values.
TPS22995H-Q1 requires 0.35V as maximum low level input voltage at the ON pin.

Looking at our simulation data and our test data, this will not be an issue as the output logic low from the GPIO pins will be below that recommended maximum for the TPS22995H-Q1.

As for the "no additional leakage current", we can not guarantee this claim with the changes you will make.

    BR,

    Nicholas

  • Hello Nicolas,

would it be possible to give us a max. low level output voltage of a TPS6594-Q1 GPO e.g. for  IOL = 100µA based on your simulation and test data, as this is the usual practice for logic device datasheets?

This allows us to validate our connection as we could ensure ourselfs that our circuit topology will not exceed this current value.

    Regards, Peter

  • Based upon the simulations and test data,

Don't have current in the µA range for our IOL test as we have different tests, but we do have 0.18V to 0.33V at our worst case testing scenario for 3mA = IOL.

This is with the open drain selection for the GPIO9 & GPIO11.

    Hope that helps,

    Nicholas
