Guidance for Topology selection

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28C58

HI,

We are looking for a switcher IC's for MOSFET below spec for SEPIC topology

input voltage :- 75V to 1000V DC

Output Voltage :- 400V DC

Output Current :- 300mA

Efficiency >94%

Give suggestion for selecting the right topology, both isolated and non-isolated are also okay.

Looking for your quick response.

  • Vasu,

I don't see a reference design for your exact specs but here are a couple design resources to help move you in the right direction:

    1. Search TI Reference Design library here.
    2. Download and use TI Power Stage Designer to evaluate and compare the performance of various proposed topologies
    3. For 1kV input, are you considering to use SiC MOSFET? If so TI has recently introduced the UCC28C5x general purpose PWMs which are upgrades of the industry standard UCC28C4x family. The UCC28C5x controllers highlighted below are tailored for SiC MOSFET applications. There is also a wide input voltage flyback EVM available which is operating from 40V<VIN<1kV.

    Regards,

    Steve M

  • Hello Steve,

    Thanks for the reply.

We will just go through this and come back to you.

Do you have any other preferred topology for this application?

    Thanks

    Vasu

  • I don't understand the DC input defined as -75V<VIN<1000V? Does this mean the input voltage can be -75V, 0V, 1V, 10V, etc...up to 1kV? what is the application that is operating from such a DC input? Here are two topology choices to deal with -48V input. Once you convert the negative input voltage to positive input voltage, the choice of topologies is bit more clear.

  • Hello Steve

Sorry steve i should not use that symbol in front of integer values.

Input voltage range is from +75Vdc to +1000Vdc. It is in positive range only.

Application Auxiliary supply for Solar Inverter.

    Output voltage :400Vdc @ 350mA.

Please suggest preferred topology to achieve from your end. Also please help us with simulation model for the suggested UCC28C58.

Is it possible have a teams/webex call at any of your convenient time.

    Thanks and Regards

    vasu

  • Consider the flyback I mentioned previously:
