BQ76952: REG1 on 'soft shutdown'

Part Number: BQ76952

Desired behaviour

 - REG1 should always be available in any circumstances

Notes

 - We are using parallel FET mode so there is no wakeup possible from LD and we do not want a transistor from Charge Input to TS2

 - We do not want a solution which requires OTP to be written

Our proposed solution

 - Stop SHUTDOWN from happening

-  So, tie TS2 low; on very low pack or cell voltage, low voltage protections would cause device to try to enter SHUTDOWN; TS2 tied low will cause device to stick in soft shutdown.

Question

 - Is REG1 enabled (if previously enabled) in soft shutdown? We have searched but cannot find a specification.

  • Hi Nicholas,

In TS2 Soft SHUTDOWN, the REG1 LDO will be disabled.  In LD Soft SHUTDOWN, the REG1 LDO will remain enabled. TS2 Soft SHUTDOWN will not be a desirable state to meet your criteria.

Also note that programming the SHUT_TS2 bit to 1 will not keep REG1 LDO on if SHUTDOWN is attempted.  The resulting low-power state does not enable the REG1 and REG2 LDOs.

    Best,

    Andria
