My client would like to know if there are any future plans to offer comms over the wireless power link.

They are considering a custom charging station for their product, and would like to have some low-level form of communication with the devices being charged.

I suspect we will end up using an infrared emitter & receiver pair next to the coils as an alternative.

  • Hello Chad,

The WPC communication protocol has provisions for propriatary packets that can be used to pass limited user information from the receiver to transmitter.

What would be needed to have controllers on both sides of the wireless link capable interfacing these information.  These are not available yet.

The infrared solution could be good short term approach.
