TPS62933: switching frequency and inductor selection

Part Number: TPS62933
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS563300,

Hello,

1) In Table 10.2 of datasheet, the recommended inductor values are only listed for switching frequency up to 1200KHz. Is there a reference value for 2200Khz?

And for 12V output, only 500kHz is listed. Is that because 1200Khz and above is not supported for 12V output?

2) Figure 10.8 shows the temperature is really high in maximum working condition. However i found this picture is exactly the same as TPS563300 (Fig. 8-7). Are they suppose to be the same?

Thank you.

/Roland

  • Hello,

A response will be posted by tomorrow or early next week. Please take into consideration CN holiday which lasts through October 6.

    Thank you,

  • Hello Roland,

    1. We picked up some conditions then summarized Table 10.2, which doesn't mean that device cannot support other conditions like 2200Khz. You can refer to Datasheet Chapter 10 to design the circuit. And you can send us schematic for final review.

    2. For 1.2MHz-12Vout application, the thermal performance could be a concern if loading is heavy. If your loading is light, device could be used here.

    3. TPS563300 belongs to tps6293x family, which is a cost-effective version. The main differences between tps563300 vs tps62933 are VIN range (28Vin_max vs 30Vin_max), the accuracy of voltage reference (1.5% vs 1%), switching frequency (fixed 500kHz vs 200k~2.2MHz), Iq (20uA vs 12uA) and pins definition (Pin-1 NC, Pin-7 NC vs Pin-1 RT, Pin-7 SS).
