Charger pump TPS60151 Iout max.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS60151, TPS60110, TPS60130, TPS61070

Hi, I am interesting in use a charge pump to power external LCD that has a maximum consumption of 90mA, and the Vin= 4 to 5.4 Volts. The power supply to feed Vin in tps60151 is 2.7 to 4.2 Volts, an ion-litio battery. I think that tps60151 it's a good option but I have a question, I've seen in the page 5 figure 5, that the tps60151 can supply 4.8 Volts with a Iout maximum of 100 mA, but in the page 9 figure 20, I've seen a note: "50mA (Vin>=2.7Volts)". Can tps60151 IC supply 100mA with Vout >= 4Volts when Vin >= 2.7Volts?

  • Per datasheet Figure 8, maximum output current over temperature, the TPS60151 cannot provide 100mA at Vin=2.7V once the temperature rise above ambient of 25C.  You might consider moving to larger charge pump such as the TPS60110 or TPS60130 or  an inductive boost converter such as TPS61070.
