TPS2597: TPS25970ARPW bidirectional efuse problem

Part Number: TPS2597

I have below design. When I supply Vin 12V and i load ~3A through efuses everything is working fine. Then i supply 14V to Vout make switch over. When i do that something wierd will happen to U4: when removing 14V and supplying 12V to Vin i can see wierd ripple in the input current? Will U4 efuse break down in the switch over? In the scope picture current is measured through Vin. In the switch over i can see ~4A max current ( comes because of charging input caps of 12V power supply ), but it shouldnt brake anything, right?

  • Hi Tehe,

    1. Can you show in schematic where current is measured?

    2. Also please share complete schematic.

    3. As long as device is within operating conditions it should work fine.

    4. One concern would be current flowing through body diode that would happen when VOUT>VIN of device.

  • I cannot share full schematic. Before switch over ( changing direction ) both U4 and U3 efuses are on so bodydiodes should not conduct because of low rdson of ICs...

  • Hi TeHe,

We have not tested this configuration so cannot guarantee device functionality under various cases in this config. Please evaluate thoroughly before finalizing the design.
