BQ24800: BQ24800 Charging current, Pre-charge current and terminating current

The charging current can be set in register 0x14 but the pre-charge current and terminating current are internally controlled by the BQ24800. 

Could you provide some more information on your end-application and charging requirements?

Thank you for the prompt reply.  I am still waiting to get access to the secure site to get the BQ24800 datasheet.  but im guessing the charge termination can be contoleed via smbus when chargingcurrent() = 0.  

We are using 3 cells in series.

The charging voltage is at 4.15V/cell.

Current is 300ma Precharge, 100ma terminating and 1A charging current

 Typical input from power plug/adapter is 18V.

This will be used for a mobile radio and scanner.

Thank you!  however, i cant seem to find information regarding precharge current..

the charge termination can be set by the register ChargingCurrent =0  from the battery.

are you able to help for regaring precharge current?

In that case, the battery gauges team may be able to help with how to set the pre-charge current using the BQ40z50.

we are not using the precharge fet of the bq40z50 but will need to rely on the charger. Please help to find out regarding the precharge of bq24800.

i only mentioned the battery’s fuel gauge is bq40z ifbin case the precharge current can be controlled bybthe chargingcurrent information via smbus.

Just to make my question clearer, the bq40z50-r1 has a charging voltage and charging current regiater that can be broadcasted to a smart charger. Checking the registers of bq24800, the same register can be written.  Im thinking if it is possible for the bq40z50 directly write into 0x14 of the bq24800 and will the current adjust accordingly? If this is possible, i think this will be the solution for the precharge current setting.
