Do you have any reccomandations for a high reliability, low cost and low power 12V supply suitable for powering the TPSF12C3 / TPSF12C1 directly from the mains? If I understand correctly a galvanic isolation is not needed because it is referenced to PE

Hi Lukas,

The power supply for VDD (referenced to chassis GND) can be derived from an aux winding off the PFC stage in the system. You shouldn't need a dedicated supply. In fact, there's usually a 12V bias supply available in most systems.

Unfortunately we don't have an available supply referenced to PE/Chassis, there are a few 5V and gate driver supplies, but they are all isolated, therefore my question for a dedicated supply

Lukas,

I recommend generating the 12V from one of the available bias supplies (5V), as opposed to taking from the line with a HV-to-LV conversion. See the SN6505 isolated push-pull for example.
