TPS7A33: abnormal 24V connect to Vout caused IC damaged

Part Number: TPS7A33

Dears:

Customer happen to connect 24V to TPS7A3301 Vout, then IC was damaged. Could you please help advise how to add protection in this PIN? Or Do we have other LDO can support this application? Thanks.

  • Hi Haiwen,

Can you confirm that you mean -24V to Vout (as opposed to +24V on this negative LDO)?  The abs max ratings of Vout is -36V to +0.3V as shown below.  If you applied +24V to the output of the LDO, one method to protecting the LDO is by using an antiparallel schottky diode where the anode is connected to Vout and the cathode is connected to GND.

    Thanks,

    Stephen
