TPS92641: There is no chip enable pin in TPS92641, how to enable or disable TPS92641 by a pin of MCU?

Part Number: TPS92641
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-080008

Dear Sir,

Just like the question, please give some suggestion!

Best regards.

David

  • Hi David,

During the normal operation of the device, holding the UDIM pin lower than "V_UDIM-LP" for a period longer than "T_UDIM-DET" will disable the TPS92641.

When the TPS92641 has been disabled, holding the UDIM pin higher than "V_TH-UDIM" will enable the device.

You can refer to Section 6.5 Electrical Characteristics from the datasheet for these parameters.

    Best Regards,

    Steven

  • Dear Steven,

In fact ,I want to use a 30Hz PWM signal(50% duty) to driver UDIM, and get a 30hz flash light, can UDIM or SDIM signal be used for this purpose?

    Best regards.

    David

  • Hi David,

If a short current rising / falling time is needed, I would recommend using SDIM with shunt FET to achieve this.

Otherwise, you can consider using UDIM. But the around 1000ms / 30 *50% = 16.67ms off-time may disable the IC and later the IC may need some time to startup, which will lead to a slower current rising time.

    Best Regards,

    Steven

  • Dear Steven,

In Design Guide:TIDA-080008, Display LED Driver Reference Design, there is an EXCELtools for designing parametres, can you share this excel tool for me?

    Best regards!

    David

  • Hi David,

Sorry but this calculation tool is not done by our team and we cannot provide it. I can provide schematic review if needed.

    Best Regards,

    Steven
