We made 500 pieces PCBA recently witch including 3 LMG5200 each. After SMT, we found almost 1/3 LMG5200 chips were shorted before power on, the short was betweent pin 1,8 and 9. The shorted chips looks normal without any appearance defect.

What are the possible reasons?

We ignored the MSL level of the chip, the chips were exposed to air for decades days. If this is the reason , is the faiure mode of MSL enviroment is short circuit??

Hi Bo,

Thank you for reaching out, is the device still short after removing the device from the board? Also is this short happening to the same device position on each board or is it different position between boards?

Yes, it is still short after removing from the board. And some of the boards , all three LMG5200 are short; some of the boards, only 1 or 2 are short. All the boards haven't been powerd on, we just use multimeter test them.
