TPS61033: Returning from pass-through mode

Part Number: TPS61033

Hi support team,
This is a question regarding the operation when returning from pass-through mode with MODE=Low setting.

When VIN drops and VOUT becomes less than 97% of the setting target voltage, does it always recover with PWM?
Does it recover using PFM when the load is light?

I'm worried that if it comes back up with PFM, the output voltage regulation will be slower.

Regards,
Dice-K

  • Hi Dice,

At first it is PFM, and then would change to PWM if output voltage doesn't recover. But I think the output voltage will not be too slow, the speed should be similar with load transient (ex, from 0A to 1A load transient).

    Regards,

    Nathan

  • Hi Nathan,
    Thank you for your reply.

Does it recover with PFM even under heavy load?
Or are you talking about light load?

    Best regards,
    Dice-K

  •  Hi Dice,

Sorry that I got something wrong...

The device doesn't use PFM when exiting from pass-through, always PWM. Because the entering PFM need the output voltage is a little higher than target output voltage, when exiting from pass-through, the output voltage is lower than target voltage, so it can't be PFM, no matter it is light load or heavy load.

    Regards,
