TPS3422: Delayed input off timer

Part Number: TPS3422
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3760

Hi,
Looking for an ON/OFF Controller but the functionality I want out of the latching circuit is:

a. When the switch, JJNHWUG200NOPMRTR (NO-type), is open, power should be supplied to the circuit immediately.
b. When the switch, JJNHWUG200NOPMRTR (NO-type), is closed for > 20 seconds, the power to the circuit is cut.

Please refer to any suitable IC part number that is available?

Regards

Basit Ali Khan

  • Hi Basit,

When you say the switch is open, you are supplying 0V?
When you say the switch is closed, you are supplying what voltage? 5V?

    Thanks,
    Joshua

  • When the switch is open, nothing is being supplied from switch but pull down can be applied
When the switch is closed, 3.3V will be supplied.

The switch is of SPST type.

  • Hi Basit,

For voltage supervisors it is recommended to keep the sense delay <13s which equates to roughly 10uF, "The recommended maximum sense delay capacitor for the is limited to 10 μF as this ensures enough time for the capacitor to fully discharge when a voltage fault occurs. Also, having a too large of a capacitor value can cause very slow charge up (rise times) and system noise can cause the the internal circuit to trip earlier or later near the threshold. This leads to variation in time delay where it can make the delay accuracy worse in the presence of system noise" (Section 8.3.5.1 Sense Time Delay Configuration, TPS3760 Datasheet).

The closest device to meet your spec would be TPS3760E012DYYR as this device is an adjustable overvoltage threshold device with active-low output topology and a CTS pin to integrate sense delay.

    Thanks,
    Joshua
