bqMtester software 2.0?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADVANCED-BQMTESTER, BQMTESTER, BQ20Z45, BQEVSW, BQ34Z100, BQ20Z80

We have the HP495 calibration board but cannot find the multistation setup software 2.00, mentioned in the user's guide SLUU397A.

http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/advanced-bqmtester.html

All we can find is the older 1.06B setup elsewhere.

We already have drivers installed for the EV2300 to talk to our target chips with the EV software.  Do we need to reload drivers?  Can we even avoid reloading drivers when the multistation setup runs?   Will it break our existing operations with the EV software?

  • The new software (v2.0 or later) and hardware (HPA495) are required for devices that need voltage calibration on each each. The majority of the released devices do not require this upgrade. Which device are you working on?

bqMTester software v1.06 works for the majority of the devices we have released. The new hardware HPA495 will work with the older software revision also.

No need for driver update if you already have EV2300 driver installed.

  • We are using the bq20z45.  Do we need v2.0?  SLUU397A says to use 2.0 and it is not available for down load from:

    http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/advanced-bqmtester.html

1.06 is not mentioned at  http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/advanced-bqmtester.html

  • How much longer until the software will be available?

  • Hello Jackie, when will this software be available?  I have checked http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/advanced-bqmtester.html as the user guide states but there is no download available there.   I've checked other places and still haven't found it.

Any assistance would be greatly appreicated.

  • REV C is the latest version available and will work with all presently released devices.
It is found on the landing page for the BQMTESTER.

    Support Software
  • From what I can see there doesn’t seem to be any different software needed for the "Advanced bqMtester users guide.
The title “advanced” is saying this document tells how to use the bqMtester in detailed functions that may not be needed for standard use.

bqTester.exe, StationSetup.exe, TesterDFReader.exe and MultiStationTester.exe are in the directory the bqtester available software is loaded in.
    C:\Program Files\Texas Instruments\bq Tester

Correct me if I am wrong.

    From http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluu397a/sluu397a .pdf page 5
    bqMTester: Software Environment
The bqMTester software is a suite of programs that calibrates and tests modules in the devices listed in Section 1.2. There are four executable files, but only three are user-executable files. Of those three files, only two are needed for most applications: StationSetup.exe and MultiStationTester.exe.

    • MultiStationTester.exe: The main test program for multi-station testing. This program can only be run after StationSetup.exe has been run. It requires the calibration board (HPA169/HPA495). This program's purpose is to coordinate background bqTester.exe functions and data. It initiates tests, handles priority conflicts, and processes and stores test statistical data received from bqTester.exe.

    • StationSetup.exe: This is the setup program for MultiStationTester.exe. This program must be run prior to running MultiStationTester.exe. The EV2x00/Temperature/Test Limits are configured using this program. TesterDFReader.exe: This program can read the data flash and write a ROM file (data flash image file) to be used by bqMTester software. In most cases, this program will not be used. bqEASY in the bqEVSW will generate the ROM file. If bqEASY is not compatible with the fuel gauge to be tested, refer to Appendix I. (For more information on bqEASY, see http://focus.ti.com/lit/ug/sluu278/sluu278.pdf.)

    • bqTester.exe: This program is the backbone of the Multi-Station Tester. It performs all of the testing. bqTester.exe is a background object that is not visible when called by MultiStationTester.exe. There is an instance of bqTester.exe running for each EV2x00 test station connected to the PC. The bqMTester (MultistationTester.exe) software calls on bqTester.exe to perform all the calibration and testing. All data from this testing is reported back to the Advanced bqMTester where it is displayed and logged.

NOTE: Do not run the bqTester.exe as a standalone program. This is not supported and can cause unpredictable results. bqTester.exe executes in the background, supporting MultiStation Tester.

  • The Advanced bqMtester software will eventually allow testing of the bq30xxx family.  This bqMtester 2.0 is still in development. If not using the bq30xxx devices then the present available download will work with the Advanced bqMtester application.

  • H,

I'm trying to use the BQMulyistation Sw 2.0 to program the BQ34Z100 and I have immediately had a problemto unlock the Sw Bq Tester Station Setup as the password showed in datasheet ( bq20z80) doesn't work , what's the correct one ?
