BQ79656EVM-021: BQ79656EVM-021

Part Number: BQ79656EVM-021
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: USB2ANY

Hello

I have Bq79656 evaluation board that s connected to BQAutoeval 1.0.4 using USBABY . It was working with no issue before now is not waking up. The voltage across the battery terminal is 22V and on the GUI it shows the hardware is connected. Jumper 14 and 16 are connected .  Does any help how to wake the eval board back. I tried power cycle and reopen the eval board and tried to wakeup but not successful.

  • Hello Geb,

So the device was working before and then it stopped working. That is very odd. This may take some physical debugging. Its good that you did a power cycle and restarted the GUI.

    1) The first thing to do would be to get a probe and see if you can follow the USB2ANY signal all the way to the chip.

    2) If you have another EVM that you can use as a base, you can try to wake up this device using the VIF communication.

    3) Did you make any changes to the EVM after it was working? Any changes to jumpers or to the USB2ANY?

    4) Is it possible that any high voltages were applied to the EVM that could damage its normal operation?

    Best,

         Quentin

  • HI Silic, The board was working back , all I have done is remove the power and wait for a while , close the Bqautoeval and reconnect back reopen the software then wake up and auto address.
