TPS65994AE: PD3.1 output power limit setting

Hi,

We have apply PD3.1 EVM set(TPS65994BG+TPS26630+BQ25758), when we test on some ACER notebook(Swift3).

The notebook ask for 20V/3.25A power, the TPS65994BG source ability is 20V/5A.

But seems TPS65994BG only set output curremt protection at 20V/3.25A even it can support to 20V/5A, it caused when notebook is low battery condtion, it may drain over 20V/3.25A,

And let trigger OCP protection and auto retry.

Is it possibl to set TPS65994BG to maximum 20V/5A output even when the sink side only declare 20V/3.25A?

It will avoid this OCP cause connection retry in some condition.

Who is the customer?

Do you have a .pjt file associated with the EVMs? Can you share it if you do?

I'll speak to the team about options for setting the current limit, but it sounds like you are trying to do something that contradicts the PD messaging. Is there a reason why the Asus Laptop is not requesting a higher current contract?

Also, do you know if the Asus laptop is triggering OCP due to a higher avg current, or is this a spike due to initial loading? An option could be to increase the Peak Current setting in the Transmit Source Capabilities register, which is used for surge/transient current spikes.

ACER swift3 in normar condition 65W is enough.

It causing by high inrush current.

Would you please help for set more higher OCP pjt to us try again?

And please let me know if possible to set more higher output ability even sink only 65W. thanks!
