DCP020507: SYNC with an external LVCMOS clock

Part Number: DCP020507

In the application note "EXTERNAL SYNCHRONIZATION OF THE DCP01/02, DCR01/02, AND DCV01 SERIES OF DC/DC CONVERTERS", it is mentioned that for an external synchronisation to a clock, we need to connect the external signal via a BJT based circuit (Attached the fig. below).

I have a LVCMOS clock with frequency of 819.2KHz which is 3.3Vpp, i want to know if i can connect this signal directly to the SYNC pin, or should i connect it via a resistor divider to reduce the Vpp to the recommended 3Vpp as mentioned in the App. note?

Or do i need to follow the convention of this BJT based driver.

P.S. i am going to use a single DCP020507 device.
