Hi,

We are in the process of evaluating the EVM for EMC aspect. We are seeking the ODB++ file of the EVM PCB. The user guide contains the necessary information on the Bill of Materials. Hence, can you please help us with the ODB++ file.

Also, for the sake of others reading the E2E forum: Why ODB++files are requested instead of the more commonly requested gerber files?

Gerber files are the most widely used format for PCB design. It is a single PCB file that includes all the layer data, pad shape, and drawings providing an accurate PCB design result. But a Gerber cannot define the layer stack-up and the drill files cannot be included, while ODB++ can include a huge amount of data that is often imported into higher level simulation tools to perform complex simulations such as thermal performance, EMI performance, etc.

Hi Steven,

Thank you for explaining the advantages of ODB files over Gerber files. Your response is highly accurate and such files are indeed necessary for higher level simulations for multi-physics instead of only functionality or manufacturing checks.
