TPS7A24: Simulation model - Vout=0

Part Number: TPS7A24
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A52

Hi!

I have downloaded the Spice model of the device from TI webpage to do some quick tests, and after trying to simulate the basic application circuit, I see the output of the device is always 0V. This is the schematic I am trying to simulate, applying 12V at Vin and trying to generate 5Vout using the same resistor values specified in the datahseet section 8.2.2.2 just for testing...

I guess the circuit should be ok, but I don't know why it's not generating any output. Any ideas?

First weird thing I saw is that the  Spice model had a "PG" pin that is not present in the device, as only 5 pins are available...

  • Hello Alberto,

What does your spice simulation profile look like? There may be an issue with the voltage source you are using.

please refer to the TPS7A52 Schematic:

My machine does not run PSCPICE well so I cannot verify if there is something wrong with the model. I will forward this request to a separate applications engineer, for further support.

    Best,

    Juliette

  • Hi Alberto,

Thank you for your question. I have reached out to my colleagues about this issue, and they are in the same family so you can ignore the PG functionality for this model. Also, you will not get a 5-V output with that resistor pairing. That is set to 3.3-V which is what I get when I run my model.

As for why you are not seeing a voltage, I cannot tell from a picture. The schematic is connected well. Can you please send me the file so I can go through it?

    Thank you,

    Josh Nachassi
