BQ24080 CE# pin question

On datasheet (P.13) it states that a low-level signal on Charge-Enabled Input pin enables the charging, but on the typical application circuit from the same datasheet (P.17), the CE# pin is held high constantly. Is this an error on the datasheet, or am I misunderstanding the datasheet? Could someone possible clarify please?

Hi,

Yes! You are right, the /CE should be hold low to enable the charging.

The circuit on pg 17 figure 10 is just a typical circuit application. In this case the /CE pin is disabled.

We usually recommend following the EVM design instead of the typical circuit app on the ds.

The data sheet should not show a pull up on the CE pin unless some other control also can pull down. This must be an error in the data sheet.

The difference between a "typically" data sheet application and an EVM application is......typically the data sheet application will be a simple application with fewer components, where the EVM is typically full featured and set up for the many possibilities and often has extra components that protect against "fat probing" and accidental shorting of certain signals. Your design requirements dictates how many components are needed.

The error is submitted for corrections. The figure 10 on the datasheet should be in a correct form in few weeks.
