See below from Section 7.3 of the datasheet.
If the recommended operating range of the current sense pins is exceeded due to inrush current creating a transient voltage across the sense resistor, then TI cannot guarantee the functionality of the device. It is recommended to include RC filters on the pins to prevent the limits from being exceeded by inrush current.
