UCC5880QEVM-057: Make Firmware Permanent After Power Cycles

Part Number: UCC5880QEVM-057

Hello TI Forum Community,

I'm facing an issue with my UCC5880QEVM-057 and need some guidance on how to flash the firmware permanently. Currently, after a power cycle (power-off and power-on), the firmware seems to disappear, and the device's LED D1 doesn't blink. I want to ensure that the firmware remains intact and operational even after power cycles.

I've tried reprogramming the device, but it loses the firmware every time I power cycle it, which isn't the behavior I expected. Can anyone help me with the steps or solutions to make the firmware permanent on the UCC5880QEVM-057?

Any assistance or insight into how I can achieve a permanent firmware solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards

  • Hello Maximilian,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The UCC5880 EVM firmware needs to be reloaded every time the control board loses power. Since the USB provides power to the MCU the easiest way to keep the firmware loaded is to leave the Control card plugged into the computer. With this, the Gate drivers can be power cycled, and the Control card can even be removed from one EVM and placed in another EVM.

If the USB is disconnected, and the gate driver power s cycled, the firmware will need to be rewritten.
