BQ25756: BQ25756

Part Number: BQ25756

Dear Team,

While looking for some solution on battery charging from Solar Panel, I came across the Solution from TI "BQ25756". I have few query on this:

1. As per the evaluation Module of "BQ25756 Evaluation Module" the Input Voltage range is showing from 4.2 to 70V and output is "55 V and a max charge current of 10 A." and 240W.

The application that we are looking for is

1. Input Voltage Range : 4.2 to 80V from a 640 W PV panel

2. Output is 56V (Lithium Ion Battery - LiFePO4) with Nominal Voltage of 48V / 20A

If you can please guide us in the compatibility check for this Solution with "BQ25756" Solution.

Thanks and Regards

  • Hello Arunav,

I think the BQ25756 will be compatible with your system.

The BQ25756 IC can output all the way up to 70V with a 20A charge current.

To get the EVM to output a battery charge voltage of 56V, you'll have to adjust R64 on the EVM to be the correct resistance.

Can you clarify what you mean by the output voltage is 56V, but the nominal voltage is 46V?

  • Thanks Ethan, for your quick response. We have to charge the LiFePO4 battery (48V/100AH). where the Nominal voltage of battery is 48V and the max voltage to charge is 56V, so we we have to keep the Bus voltage till 60V.

One more inputs, what is the maximum power the IC can support.

    Regards

  • Hello Arunav,

Got it. Thanks for the clarification.

The BQ25756 is a charge controller. The maximum input voltage is 70V and maximum charge current is 20A. For your application, the BQ25756 is capable of charging at 640W.
