TPS2663: N.C Pins left open?

Genius 12865 points

Hello Team,

according to DS table 6-1 the N.C pins should be left open, correct?

But the EVM schematics show some NC pins connect to ground, some to Vin and some to Vout.

Can you confirm that these pins can also be left open? Or, if tied to ground is recommended, why?

Thank you and Best Regards, Hans

  • Hi Hans,

NC pins can be connected to GND or left open or any other potential.

On EVM, We connected NC pins near Vin and Vout are connected to Vin and Vout to spread the copper around the Vin and Vout pins. And rest of the NC pins to GND so that the ground plane under the thermal pad can be extended on the top layer. This way it will be more effective in improving the thermal relief to the device than connecting all the pins to Vin.

    Best regards,

    Rakesh
