BQ76942: What does this additional circuitry on discharge MOSFET do and why these extra capacitor

Part Number: BQ76942

Hello,

We are developing a BMS using this IC and we want to understand what is the use of this additional circuitry marled with red in the screen shot and why are these additional capacitors needed marked with orange?

  • Hi Vidit,

The top right portion of the circuit in red is a reverse charger protection circuit. This circuit is explained further in Section 2 and Section 3 of the Multiple FETs application note.

The resistor and diode in the bottom left help the DSG FET to turn off faster.

The capacitors are normal bypass capacitors, just connected in series to allow for greater voltages.

    Regards,
