TPS552892EVM: spec check

Part Number: TPS552892EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS552892, TPS552882

Hi

TPS552892 is set to input 3V and output 3.8V. When the instantaneous load is greater than 2.5A, a protective power outage will occur. If the load is loaded slowly, a power outage will not easily occur. When using an oscilloscope to measure the load, the minimum reaches 2.58V as shown below

Remove EN junp, even if you give vin first, it won’t work

  • Hi Gareth,

It looks like the yellow channel is the Vin waveform, when you add the large instantaneous load, the input voltage will drop to about 2.58V due to cable resistance and the value is smaller than Vin_falling voltage, so the device would shutdown. Then the input voltage again raises above Vin rising voltage so the device starts up again. If you slowly add the load, the input voltage would be more stable.

Remove the EN jump, then EN will be floating so it doesn't work.

  • Hi Bryce

    1. Any other product suggestions?Input will be lower than 3V~42V 1S , Vout 4V~4.3V / greater than 5A

    2..For another case, please suggest suitable products Vin 8.7V~19v, Vout 19v 3.16A / 12V 4.17A

3.TPS552892 If using internal 8A protection, can R1 on the Current limit be removed?

  • Hi Gareth,

May I know why the input voltage range is so large? Is 42V the required operation input voltage?

TPS552892 is ok to operate with 3V input voltage, but if the test wire of the input side is long and resulting in the input voltage at the TPS552892 side is smaller than 2.6V, then this device would shutdown.

  • Hi Bryce

1.The customer responded that it is a battery of 1 string

    2..For another case, please suggest suitable products Vin 8.7V~19v, Vout 19v 3.16A / 12V 4.17A

3.TPS552892 If using internal 8A protection, can R1 on the Current limit be removed?

  • Hi Gareth,

    1. If it is one string, why the voltage range can be that large? TPS552892 doesn't support 42Vin operation voltage.

    2. For this case, may I know why there are two options here? Is this used in automotive application?

If the output is 19V/3.16A, then TPS552882 is recommended. If the output is 12V/4.17A, then TPS552892 is recommended.

    3. R1 can be shorted to disable output current limit, but ISP and ISN pins must connect to Vout.

    Bryce
