BQ25606: Standalone Charger schematics review

Part Number: BQ25606

Hi,

We are planning to use BQ25606 charger IC to design a standalone battery charger pod. The charging pod will be used to charge 4500mAh and 8300mAh Li-ion batteries.

Please find attached the schematics for review. We are using STAT output pin to drive two LEDs. One for Charging in progress status and the other one for Charge complete status. Please review that circuit as well.

Appreciate your quickest response.

  • Hello Naveen,

My schematic review is as follows:

    1. I would shoot for the PG pin to have a maximum sink current of 6 mA. Adjust the pullup resistor accordingly. Please make sure the STAT current does not exceed 6 mA.

    2. When STAT is high (Charge complete or charger in SLEEP mode), D43102 is ON. When STAT is low (Charge in progress), BLUE LED is on.

    3. The max input current is 3.19A.

    4. With VSET floating the battery regulation voltage is 4.208 V.

    5. ICHG regulation is 3.08 A. Please adjust to max charging current of 3.0 A.

    6. Please connect 20 uF to SYS.

    7. Please make sure REGN capacitor rating is at least 10 V.

    8. The OTG pin cannot be left floating. Please tie high or low.

    Regards,

    Mike Emanuel
