TPS548D22: Short Circuit Protection

Part Number: TPS548D22

Hi expert,

Do you have TPS548D22 short circuit test waveform can share as a reference?

What customer measured seems like OCP behavior. We expect Vo shall drop to 0 right away. Although they used E-load but they use multiple and thick wires in parallel.

Could you please have a look the waveform and comment if it's expected? Or advise proper way to test short circuit?

Thanks,

Allan

The TPS548D22 does not have "short circuit protection" outside of it's Over Current Protection.

When the output is heavily loaded, the inductor current out of the SW pin is limited by Over Current Protection to prevent excessive current.  The voltage seen during the load pulse is Vo = Rload x Iocp

The TPS548D22 will continue generating the OCP current until the under voltage protection (UVP) terminates switching after the UVP delay of 1ms.
