TPS92624-Q1: LED Driver short and open detection fault condition diagnostics

Part Number: TPS92624-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS92633-Q1

Team,

I am looking in this LED Driver and some parts similar to this. Is there a way to use this LED Driver that when a Single LED Short detection occurs, the device should not shut down but instead the other channels should keep operating?

Alternatively, can we come up with an external circuitry with using comparators for Short and Open LED fault detection?

Regards,

Mohit Vakharia

  • Hi Mohit,

TPS92624-Q1 can support different diagnostic features,

But this device can't support Single LED diagnostic.

If you want to achieve the goal of single led short diagnostic, it is recommended to use TPS92633-Q1.

In addition, what do you mean "when a Single LED Short detection occurs, the device should not shut down but instead the other channels should keep operating"?

Do you need the single-LED-fault can be reported out?

    Hailee.

  • Hailee,

Thanks for the reply. This will help.

Yes, the device should report single-LED-fault. Is it possible?

    Regards,

    Mohit

  • Also,

Is there a part which does not have single-fail-all-fail mechanism? Meaning the other channels of the device will still be on in case one of the channels has a fault condition.

    Regards,

    Mohit

  • Hi Mohit,

The TPS92624-Q1 doesn't support single-led-short diagnostic, but TPS92633-Q1 can support this function.

These parts can support single-fail-all-fail mechanism, that means if one channel has a fault condition, other channels will be off.

Our device also support single-fail-others-on mechanism, I think this one fits your description "the other channels of the device will still be on in case one of the channels has a fault condition".  It is related to the FAULT pin configuration.

Could you share more detailed information about your application and expected functions? it would be helpful in recommending a suitable solution to you.

    Many thanks!

    BR,

    Hailee.
