LP5813: LP5813 only boost? Buck?

Part Number: LP5813
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP5812, LP5012

Hi!

I see there is boost converter. Can it work as buck?

I have 4.2-3.0V from battery

My RGB LED works typically max 2.65V.

Thanks for help.

  • Hi Stas,

No, it can't work as buck.

If your battery voltage is more than your output voltage, I'd like to recommend you to use it in pass through mode.

  • Hi Jared! I have some related questions:

    1. Do You plan to improve it to buck-boost in near future? If You plan I leave LP5813 in project for future, now i just bypass boost.

    2. If no buck planned I see a mention of LP5812 DSBGA-9 in LP5813 datasheet. I also take a look in your LP5813-12 EVM, where I found LP5812AYBHR. I see it is much easier for layout, because if I don't need SYNC, I don't need complicated vias under BGA, so it makes design cheaper.

    3. I don't see LP5813 in the market. I also don't see LP5812 page. Can You give me info about availability of these ICs? I am in design for 2nd version of product, and I am very interested by many reasons to replace my LP5012 to one of these IC. I think product will go from now in 3 month.

  • I also would like to ask if I can get LP5812 samples.

  • Hi Stas,

Yes, of course you can. LP5812 is expected to be RTM in these few days. Actually, the RTM signoff request has been submitted. I think you can apply in a few days. If you are very urgent, maybe you can contact me via email and we can provide the LP5812 samples via ZS order. Thanks!

  • Hi!

Sorry I skipped mail from Your reply, good I come back to check!

I would like to (if possible) to receive LP5812 samples: 10(15) one address and 10(15) different address (there will be 2 on one I2C).

10 is good, 15 will be great!

I will be happy to have it on my table in 2 weeks.

If You agree I will fast prepare Flex PCB to check it.

If You have any information about production start date/volume it will be also good,

because once I check it works, I will need to convince production for ECO changes.

So pricing and availability info is a must for ECO.
