I'm looking for a second source to the LT1761-5 LDO which has the same footprint and pin assignments as the LP2985-50, but the capacitor that goes on the BYPASS pins are connected differently. On the LT1761-5 part, a 0.01uF cap is placed between BYPASS and VOUT. The function is stated as noise reduction, but I think this is a misnomer and the purpose is to add a pole-zero in the feedback in order to improve transient response. The LP2985-50 part requires a capacitor between BYPASS and GND, and this truly serves as noise reduction by decoupling the internal reference.
The question I have is what will happen if I use the LP2985-50 part as a second source to the LT1761-5 and have a 0.01uF cap between BYPASS and VOUT. I'm assuming that there could be stability issues and my noise will actually get worse, but I thought I would ask before I waste my time modifying a demo card.
