BQ76952: Device charge and discharge judgment

Part Number: BQ76952

TI Expert Hello!
When using BQ76952, both OTC and OTD will be protected when they both exceed the threshold value, which seems to be because the device does not recognize whether they are in charge or discharge. I only use TS1 pin, TS1 pin is configured as 0x07, and the sleep mode is disabled. sleep current is the default value, and the reading of CC1 is greater than CHG current Thresh or DSG current thresh when I apply the current, but what I see is that OTC and OTD are protected at the same time, so I would like to ask what causes it. I didn't see a detailed explanation in the manual.
Thank you!

  • Hi Zhang,

The OTC and OTD faults on this device do not consider the current, they just consider the temperature.

When the OTC temperature threshold is exceeded, the device will disable the CHG FET, and when the OTD temperature threshold is exceeded, the device will disable the DSG FET, regardless of whether the device is charging or discharging.

    Regards,
