BQ40Z50-R1: BQ40Z50R1

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCCHEM, BQSTUDIO

hi

We are designing a 4S1P Smart Battery pack using BQ40Z0-r1

In this we are planning to use INR18650P28A.

In the fuel Gauge IC at the battery chemistry ID It is given INR18650A Moli cell.itis very similar,Could we can use this Chem ID for the Cell which we have planned to uuse.

  • Hello Max,

If the manufacturer ID is an exact match you should be able to use the corresponding chem ID, otherwise I would recommend using the GPCCHEM tool to find the closest matched ID.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt

    Thanks for the reply

We have faced an another problem listed below

Actually we have designed a 16.8V 4S1P Battery Pack. We are charging 4.2V/Cell. Now we have a temperature concern in our device so we have changed the charging voltage to 4.1V/cell(16.4V ).For this i have changed the battery voltage level  in fuel gauge IC. In Gas gauging Column i have changed the voltage to 4.1V/cell and charge termination current 200mA and also set the RSOC 96%.

But the battery is charging above 16.4V and it reaching 16.7V nearly. Kindly help us to solve the issue

  • Hello Max,

The gauge does not control the actual charge current, you must configure this on your charger, not the gauge. The gauge can control the charge is you are using the Advanced Charge Algorithm and either broadcasting the ChargingVoltage() and ChargingCurrent() directly to the charger or relaying the information from the gauge to the charger using a host. Are you using the advanced charge algorithm to control the charger?

Please share your .gg file with the gauge configuration information and a BQStudio log of the test you are performing.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
