Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ21080, BQ27Z746, BQ27427
Dear TI Team,
I am currently working on enhancing the design of our handheld product used for personnel location tracking. This product operates on a lithium battery (1 cell, 3V-4.2V, 1000mAh) and charges rarely using a 5V supply.
In the existing design, we use the BQ24074 (a standalone charger with power path functionality), a Maxim Fuel Gauge, and an additional IC for battery protection (UV, OV, OC charge, OC discharge, SC). Due to space constraints in this application, I am seeking a compact single or two-chip solution that encompasses the following protections and features:
- Cell UV protection during discharge
- Cell OV protection during charge
- Input overvoltage protection
- Charge and discharge overcurrent, short-circuit protection
- Cell power path disconnection based on temperature
- Fuel gauge for state of charge (SOC)
- Very low quiescent current
The BQ21080 appears to cover both charging, power path management, and protection functionalities. Please confirm if this IC is your choice for our application. Additionally, I would appreciate suggestions for a simple fuel gauge if this IC meets our requirements.
