BQ24074: Looking for alternate solution

Part Number: BQ24074
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ21080, BQ27Z746, BQ27427

Dear TI Team,

I am currently working on enhancing the design of our handheld product used for personnel location tracking. This product operates on a lithium battery (1 cell, 3V-4.2V, 1000mAh) and charges rarely using a 5V supply.

In the existing design, we use the BQ24074 (a standalone charger with power path functionality), a Maxim Fuel Gauge, and an additional IC for battery protection (UV, OV, OC charge, OC discharge, SC). Due to space constraints in this application, I am seeking a compact single or two-chip solution that encompasses the following protections and features:

  1. Cell UV protection during discharge
  2. Cell OV protection during charge
  3. Input overvoltage protection
  4. Charge and discharge overcurrent, short-circuit protection
  5. Cell power path disconnection based on temperature
  6. Fuel gauge for state of charge (SOC)
  7. Very low quiescent current

The BQ21080 appears to cover both charging, power path management, and protection functionalities. Please confirm if this IC is your choice for our application. Additionally, I would appreciate suggestions for a simple fuel gauge if this IC meets our requirements.
