TPS61252: ILIM shorted to ground

Part Number: TPS61252

We’re going through a legacy design and see that the ILIM pin of TPS61252 is connected through a 0R resistor to ground. The datasheet recommends connecting the pin to Vin for maximum input current. What effect would grounding this pin have?

For reference, we’re stepping up 3.3v from 2 parallel batteries to 6v.

  • Hi Yamen,

If the  ILIM pin is short to GND, the current limit function is not functioning. The device will function normally for a normal load. But if the load is too heavy and current exceeds its designed limit, the device will be damaged.

Also, because the device is not designed to work with ILIM pin short to GND, the quiescent current will increase under this condition.

    Best Regards,

    Travis
