TLV713P: above recommended Vin

hi Team,

what if a customer were to permanently operate TLV71333PDBVR above recommended Vin 5.5V, but below abs max of 6.5V? Would it reduce lifetime? Could you estimate by how much? Other effects?

Hi Andreas,

How far above 5.5V would they be operating? The lifetime would probably degrade somewhat depending on how close to the 6.5V abs max limit they operate, but estimating the extent of the degradation is not trivial so I cannot give you a number.

Hi Andreas,

The abs max for this device is listed as 6V, not 6.5V. Were you looking at TLV713P? Maybe we can find another device that can fit their application if you can provide more application requirements.

Yes, sorry, you are right, the abs max is 6V. The question is concerning an existing design with max Vin of 5.781. Can you help with an assessment of what that could mean for the LDO in the long run?

Hi Andreas,

I talked to design and it is not easy to estimate the risk level for this device because the technology process that is used does not support FIT rate estimations through simulations, so the only way would be through qual which is a much bigger ask.
