BQ25713: Increasing current measurement accuracy

Part Number: BQ25713
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA236,

For our application the integrated 8-bit ADC does not provide enough resolution.

Is it possible to add a more precise measurement device like the TI INA236 in parallel to the ACN/ACP and SRN/SRP pins to increase accuracy?

My assumption is that due to the high input impedance, they do not influence each other and thus can work on the same shunt resistor.

Is this assumption correct?

  • Hi Jesse,

I am not an expert on INA236. However, your assumption is correct that as long as the input impedance is so high that it does not influence current measurement on the BQ25713 current sense resistor, it can work. I would suggest making a prototype first to test this.

    Best Regards,
