Hello,

My customer is looking for a device with the conditions below.

- VIN = 5V , VOUT = +15V ad -15V , IOUT = 500mA

1. Is there a power device that satisfies the above conditions in one package? please recommend it.

2. If it is not supported by one package, please recommend a product that supports +15V and -15V respectively for 5V input. They prefer products that can be designed into the smallest package area.

3. If there is a product with 15V input and -15V (500mA) output, please recommend it.

Hi JH,

I am afraid the most suitable device is TPS65131 which can support +15V and -15V with single device, but the max output current can't be up to 500mA. Please post a new thread including TPS65131, so the experts of TPS65131 can answer your questions.

And for +15V input, -15V output (500mA), you can use the Buck as a inverting Buck-Boost for that.

Hi Bryce,

Sounds good. You can use the LM63615 or the LM63625 for your application if you want a converter. Please check out this app note to configure the device for a negative voltage output.

I looked into the LM63615 you recommended and found the following introduction on TI.com.

The LMR43620 is a more recent release and has a smaller package.

Would it be okay to introduce the LMR43620 to the customer as a device that can apply the same app notes as the LM63615?

Hi Brian,

Yes the same app note should work apart from other minor considerations (datasheet differences in voltage ranges and current limits mainly). You can also use this app note as a general purpose guide into turning a converter into an inverting buck boost.
