LM5143: Adjustable Output

Part Number: LM5143

Hi,

I'm using the lm5143 in my design and wanted to know if I can change Vout while the circuit is on and in operation using a pottentiometer as one of the feedback resistors. I was under the impression I could, but I read the following passgae in the datasheet and it says that the configuration settings are latched at start up. So, for clarification, does that mean that changing the feedback resistance during operation won't affect output voltage since settings are latched? Or does it mean that it'll detect if circuit is adjustable or fixed and it latches just that setting and you can adjust feedback using a potentiometer to change Vout?

  • Yes you can adjust the output voltage on-the-fly with a potentiometer.

Be sure the minimum Thevenin equivalent resistance on FB node is larger than 5kΩ as mentioned in the datasheet.

Otherwise, the device may configure as a fixed output, instead of adjustable output.

    Hope this helps,
