bq20z75 bqeasy error

Dear all

I use the tools "bqeasy" to identify the cell's chemistry ID. At the step of "match the best chemistry", the windows pops out "Syn error"...I have done twice and met with the same error. Who can help me?

The bqeasy softeware version: 0.9.59.

gas gauge IC:bq20z75 v160

Best regards.

Jason

  • Do you have a screen shot of the error message?

What is the bqEASY version (this is different than the EVSW version. You can find it under the initial screen of bqEASY)?

  • Hi, Jackie

Sorry for the confusion.  the tool "bqEASY" what i  said is included  in the  EVSW software.. The EVSW version is 0.9.59..

    Best regards

  • I am having the same problem.  Here are the screen shots at the end of the chem id cycle..

    1.  Discharge cycle almost complete

    2. sync error

    3. vb code error

    4. me slashing my wrists because it will take two days to run through the chem id cycle again

Maybe someone knows how to use the chem.log file to pick a close match for the chem id.  If someone can and does, thank you.

  • Jackie, or anyone:

I too am having the same problem as the original post (and others on different threads on this forum).  As you requested, I am attaching the screen shots of the error codes.  I am runing bqEasy ver. 9.75 on a pc with xp pro and all the latest drivers for the EV2300.  I am using the TI eval board, HPA246 rev B which is the bq20z95EVM board.  The battery config is 4 li Ion cells in series.  The cell datasheet is attached to other posts I have made to the forum.  I have tried this three times now and have been getting the same failure.  As others have been getting this error, too - I am thinking there could be some rare pc hw/processor issue that has not been noticed (nor corrected) by TI yet.  Could someone at TI please take a moment to match the chem.log to a chem id for us so we can move on to the next phase (golden pack cycling).  Our demo date is quickly approaching and someone's help would be much appreciated. Also, let us know if there is something wacky with the chem.log file as this could be a clue to us.

    Thanks in advance,

    Peter

  • Jason:

Did you ever find a solution to the "sync error" issue you posted about?  If so, how did you resolve it?  What do you think was the problem?  Thanks,  I am having the issue multiple times.

  • Hi, Peter

Using the battery pack to indentify the CHEMISTRY_ID is still a headache to me. Here is some advise from TI:

     1) Use the single fresh cell to do the chemistry ID

Use the mathcad tool which can be downloaded from TI WEB SIT to do it . It can find a similar chemistry id or closest to  your application.   http://www.ti.com/lit/sw/sluc138t/sluc138t.zip

     2) Send the fresh cell sample to your local TI Office

They can help us to get a cloest or newer chemistry id for us. If your cell specification is not listed in the chemistry id table, just send the cell directly..

      I use the first choice.

  • Thanks, Jason.  Your support seems to be a lot better than TI's.  I have made several requests to TI for help on this known bug, "sync error..." and "BQ subscript error", without any response at all.  My requests were simply ignored.  I discovered it was a known bug because I stumbled across several posts on the forum that were deleted but still existed on mirror sites.  Why does TI ignore those of us having this serious issue and cover it up without offering some help or advice?  We all have schedules out here that are based on best data.  And, when we can't meet the schedule, our organizations lose money and opportunity, and we look stupid and incompetent.  In my very long career, I was taught that to conceal a known problem is akin to sabotage.  This is very insensitive and unprofessional of TI.  What more can I say?  Regarding your kind and helpful advice, I will get on it now.  We have lost weeks on this and must try to make it up.  Thanks again, and good luck to you going forward.

  • Hi peter

Same feeling to me, stupid and incompetent.

Sometimes the mathcad tool can't figure out the id.  But it's a try.

Anyhow,  if TI help us to identify the ID, it's the best choice.

How about you e-mail address?  I hope we can talk about  via the e-mail.
