TPS6594-Q1: I2C rise/fall time limits and specification

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Hello,

Please clarify whether Data rise/fall times (Trd and Tfd) are input requirements or output specification. And please provide both, input requirements and output specification for Data rise/fall times.

Are the rise/fall times measured between 10% / 90% Vil / Vih?

  • Hello Andy,

I can see where the ambiguity lies, please allow some time to answer these with confirmation from the team.

    BR,

    Nicholas

  • Hello Andy,

Since the I2C lines are pulled up and the logic from the PMIC is driven by an open drain configuration, the times are in reference from the PMIC outputting onto the SDA line. The Trd & Tfd for the output times defined with the 10-90% of the VoH, and 90-10% of the VoL with the Pull as defined in the datasheet as 3.3V.

And please provide both, input requirements and output specification for Data rise/fall times.

The output requirements are the above and the input setup and hold times as defined in the datasheet.

There is a also a diagram that goes into further detail for clarification (Section 8.5.2.3 Transferring Data)

Of course these all depend on the I2C speeds the bus is operating at. Hope this helps!

    BR,

    Nicholas
