Synchronizing the UCD9244

My design uses two UCD9244s (I have 6 output voltages). Can I synch the 2nd controller to the 1st controller by running the DPWM output of the 1st controller into the SyncIn pin of the 2nd controller?  If that would work, then do I need to buffer that signal?  Thanks.

  • There is the potential to disable or fault the rail used as the master which would result in the loss of the synchronization.

I don't see a minimum specified for the sync pulse width, I will check on this.

If you did implement this then you would need to set the frequency of the slave controller slower than the master, typically 20% slower.

Follow the guidelines for EADC SAMPLE TRIGGER settings when using SYNCIN pin, Page 24/25 of datasheet.

The SYNCIN pin should not require buffering when being run from a DPWM.

I have not seen this tried yet but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
