TPS55289: TPS55289 for negative output -3.6V and -12V

I have a project need to design a negative output DC/DC. The input voltage is 5V and output voltage are -3.6V and -12V, that can be selected by different resistor. So far I only found TPS55289 can meet my specs. I am wondering if I can use TPS55289 for negative output voltage? Thanks.

TPS55289 is not suitable for negative output voltage. Please look at TPS63700 which is DC-DC Inverter if it is suitable for you.

Thanks for the response. However, The output current of TPS63700 is only 360mA. I need 1A at lease. Any other suggestion?

I use WEBENCH^® POWER DESIGNER to search and found LM25088 buck converter. May I use for negative output design? Thanks.

Hi Kevin,

Yes, TPS63700 is not suitable for 1A output current.

You can use the Buck converter to generate negative output voltage. Please post a new thread including Buck converter (for example-TPS62933) about inverting Buck-boost converter, so the Buck team can recommend the suitable device for your application. You can find the related app note below.
