BQ20z45-R1 Charger Present setting

Hi

I have designed a 3S battery and I want to put it into Shutdown mode using ManufacturingAccess command 0x0010 when the battery is sealed and present in the host equipment.  I have set Charger Present to 12700mV (this is above the normal charge voltage of 12600mV for this battery), are there any other problems or implication with setting Charger Present at such a high voltage?

Many thanks

Steve

  • There is a potential issue with this if you still have the 12.6V charger connected. The gauge will enter shutdown if the command is sent but then it will wake right back up since the PACK voltage will be higher than the 5.5V startup voltage. If your PACK pin is below the 5.5V startup voltage, the gauge will shutdown fine, but then there is no reason to set the Charger Present voltage so high.
