TPS7A84: TPS7A84 --- feedback resistors

Part Number: TPS7A84

Hello Experts,

Refer Table 8.5 for feedback resistor values for setting the output voltage.

Can R1 be 6800 ohm and R2 vary from 30k ohm to 130 kohm (using a I2C potentiometer)? The resultant output voltage can change between 0.84V to 0.98V with a typical value of 0.9V.

What is the acceptable range of R1 and R2 resistors?

Thanks, Abhijit

  • Hi Abhijit,

Range of R1 and R2 resistors are defined in Section 6.3 (Recommended Operating Conditions). Also read the footnotes 4 and 5 of the table.

Using an R1 of 12.1 kΩ is recommended to optimize the noise and PSRR, the reasoning of which is given in the footnote. Regarding R2, there is a max spec defined in the table as 160k.

As long as you follow equation 8 on page 25 of the datasheet (VOUT = VNR/SS × (1 + R1 / R2)) and the range in Recommended Operating Conditions, you can choose R1 and R2 to your liking.

    Best Regards,

    Bobby
