Hi
I am designing an AC Level 2 Charger based on your reference platform - TIDI-010239, and looking for 2 flyback controllers: UCC28742 and UCC28750.
Please explain the Pros and Cons between the two controllers, and select the right one for me.
Regards,
CJ
Hi CJ,
Thank you for the query on UCC28742.
UCC28750 is a CCM / DCM supporting controller capable of supporting higher power applications upto 100W. It has max duty close 80% and can support CCM operation with slope compensation.
UCC28742 operates in DCM and is generally used upto 40W. the Dmax is limited to 50% and does not support CCM operation.
There are a host of protection features which can be seen from datasheet. UCC28750 comes with different variants and each implement specific protection function. So you will want to choose which best fits your application.
UCC28742 provides better standby power performance due its control law.
So both should work for your application, but if your looking to design similar to the TIDA design, UCC28742 should be ok.
Regards
Harish
At this time, I am not sure which one is best for my application. But, I think that UCC28742 is good enough, even though
UCC28750 has more advanced features.
Thanks,
CJ
