BQ25890: Charging IC selection

Part Number: BQ25890
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61033, BQ25638

Dear TI Teams,

We have a new project that requires the use of a charging IC, which needs to charging the 1-cell 5000mAH Li-Lon battery and also output 5V/2A to the system load. The requirements are as follows:

For this application, we plan to use BQ25890H for charging IC, combined with boost converter TPS61033 to output 5V/2A to the system load. The schematic diagram is as follows:

However, we consider that the PD adapter may support the PD3.0 protocol, whic can support a maximum output voltage of 20V. While the recommended input voltage of BQ25890H is 14V, so we also need one PD protocol IC to manage the charging current and voltage. However, considering cost factors, we did not add an additional MCU for the HOST.

Did the selection of charging IC is suitable? If not, do you have any better suggestions for this application?

Thanks,

Kind Regards
