BQ24172: Charging Current

Hi ,

Im using BQ24172 charger to charge two 3.7V batteries connected in parallel. The battery charging voltage is 4.2v and the charging current is set to 1A.

In this setting, will BQ24172 charge the batteries with charging current of 0.5A to each battery?

Hi Akilarasan,

Batteries in parallel self balance so if they 2 batteries have identical impedances then they each would pull 0.5A. Most likely they do not match exactly.

Also, please clarify one more doubt.

What is the switching time for batdrv pin from battery to adaptor and vice-versa. Will load get turned off and turned On agin?

Hi Akilarasan,

The switching time is in the uS range. The FET body diode is always keeping the load a diode drop below the battery voltage.
