TPS548C26: Questions of DRV2603

Part Number: TPS548C26

Dear Team,

I have a question need to check with you.

According to Webench suggest schematic, what is the Cnoise is used for?

I saw the Cnoise can be de-pop on other project of our team.

So I’m checking with you about Cnoise is necessary or not?

If it is de-pop, will the action cause another side effect?

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

A response for this will be posted next week. Please expect a delay due to the holidays.

    Thanks,

    Calan

  • Hi Jimmy,

The Cnoise can also be called the feedforward cap, or C_FF.

Typically, it is used to improve transient performance or enhance stability of higher VOUT rails.

If you fill in the device calculator: TPS548C26-CALC Calculation tool | TI.com. On line 111 it will tell you if a CFF is recommended or not, then it will help you calculate the desired CFF.

If the C_FF is not needed, it is sometimes handy to have it de-pop on the PCB in case you want to "tweak" the compensation to improve transient performance/stability after the PCB is created.

    Thanks,

    Joseph
